Happy new year everyone! I know I’m a bit late and we are now entering Q2 so where on earth have I been? Well it’s been an exciting few months we have new sparkly offices, a new research administrator and a new head hunter on the horizon. I can therefore tell you all business is good and life at Red Diamond HQ is hectic and brilliant!!
We have been involved in the very difficult task of recruiting our own staff and let me tell you it’s been no mean feat. I guess it’s a bit like a doctor going to the doctors or a hairdresser cutting his or her own hair, get it wrong and my goodness you are in for a whole world of trouble. The thing is I do this every day for other people offering advice and guidance throughout the whole process, encouraging risk (to a degree) and taking a chance on your gut feeling. People I feel your pain. Fast forward a few months and I am pleased to say the methods that I preach actually work. I know because I’m doing it myself!!
We’ve had the real pleasure of working with a few local businesses recently who have never used a head hunter often they use recruiters with mixed views and opinions. One of our clients we have had enormous success with is a business that has been recruiting a Company Secretary for an entire year! Where did it all go wrong? They are a complicated business to understand with lots of different facets it wasn’t rocket science but I have to say that depending on the person you are talking to you got a different story. If internally you can’t give out a clear message then what hope does an external person have in ever knowing what you do? After a lot of time and perseverance we got to the core of their requirements, changed the entire job specification and spent time researching the company and tad ah as if by magic we had a short list, interviews and now they can’t decide between 2 candidates. Nice dilemma.
Where am I going with this? well read the title.
