Job Title: Managing Director - Distribution
Location: Essex
Salary: £120,000 - £150,000 + package
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Managing Director (MD) to lead and grow our product distribution business. The MD will be responsible for driving overall strategy, overseeing daily operations, ensuring financial sustainability, and leading the organization to achieve ambitious growth targets. This individual will act as the primary representative of the company with customers, suppliers, partners, and stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the company’s vision, mission, and strategic growth plan.

Identify new market opportunities, product lines, and partnerships to expand market share.

Drive digital transformation and operational efficiency across the organization.
Operational Management

Oversee daily business operations across sales, supply chain, warehousing, and logistics.

Ensure inventory management, procurement, and distribution processes are cost-efficient and customer-focused.

Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating favorable terms and ensuring reliable supply chains.
Financial & Business Performance

Deliver financial performance in line with budgets, forecasts, and strategic goals.

Manage P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow to ensure financial stability.

Identify risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
People & Culture

Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team across all functions.

Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service excellence.

Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and industry standards.
Stakeholder Engagement

Represent the company with customers, suppliers, regulators, and key stakeholders.

Provide regular performance updates to the Board of Directors.

Build long-term relationships that enhance the company’s reputation and growth.
Essential Experience

Proven senior leadership experience, preferably as a Managing Director, General Manager, or similar role in distribution, wholesale, or hardware-related industries such as Automotive or Aerospace.

Strong track record in sales growth, operational efficiency, and financial management.

Excellent understanding of supply chain management, warehousing, and logistics.

Exceptional negotiation and relationship management skills with suppliers and customers.

Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and P&L responsibility.

Outstanding leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or related field (MBA preferred).
