Job Title: Senior Key Account Manager UK & Ireland

Location: Manchester / Birmingham

Salary: £75,000 - £95,000 + package

Our client is a world leading provider of innovative and complex system solutions in the field of Minerals. They have been manufacturing for over 135 years from facilities through Europe. These products are vital within the Pharma, Biopharma, Food, Nutrition, Cosmetics, and Supplement industries.
With an existing customer base this role with spearhead the company’s aggressive growth plans within the UK and Ireland. You will be tasked to providing the best mineral solutions to existing and new clients within the territory. The role reports into the Sales Director based in Germany and ideally the successful person will be based in the Northwest or Midlands.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • After training, you will be responsible for the sales in the UK and Ireland.
  • Provide technical application advice on product segments for Pharma, Food & Food Supplements and Industrial Applications.
  • Development of new customers and markets.
  • Oversee and nurture relationships with a portfolio of clients, acting as the primary point of contact for all account-related matters.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing accounts, as well as proactively seek out new clients to expand the company’s footprint in the sector.
  • Ensure clients receive outstanding service, respond promptly to enquiries, and resolve any issues to maintain high levels of satisfaction and retention.
  • Develop and implement account strategies to meet and exceed sales targets, including cross-selling and upselling products where appropriate.
  • Work closely with internal teams such as sales, logistics, and production to ensure seamless service delivery and address client needs effectively.
  • Track and report on key account metrics, manage budgets, and provide accurate sales forecasts to support business planning.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and regulatory changes affecting the mineral and metal salts sector.
  • Ensure all commercial activities and client agreements adhere to company policies and relevant regulations.
  • Identify trends and collect new ideas for product development from the market.
  • Managing commercial projects and product development with the customer.
  • Build contact networks within customers.
  • Represent the company at national and international trade fairs.
  • Travel to customers within the UK and Ireland.
  • Conduct sales and technical meetings via video conferencing such as MS Teams and Zoom.

Essential Experience

  • Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacy, Food Technology, or a comparable natural science would be desirable.
  • Basic knowledge in the field of regulatory affairs and may have some professional experience in the distribution of raw materials.
  • Experience in project management and customer development.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with a proven track record of closing deals and managing contracts.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office products.
  • Minimum of 5 years in account management, technical sales, or business development, preferably within the chemicals, minerals, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong, trust-based relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret sales data to drive informed decision-making.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple accounts, projects, and deadlines simultaneously.
