Our client is seeking an exceptional Managing Director to lead a well-established manufacturing and distribution business with an impressive reputation for quality, innovation and customer service.
Reporting directly to the Board, the successful candidate will assume full responsibility for the strategic direction and overall performance of the organisation, driving sustainable growth, operational excellence and commercial success across domestic and international markets.
This role requires an inspirational and highly commercial leader who can balance long-term strategic vision with a hands-on approach to leadership, developing strong customer relationships while building a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the organisation and identifying new opportunities for growth through innovation, investment and market expansion.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and deliver the organisation’s long-term strategy, ensuring alignment with the Board’s vision and commercial objectives.
  • Commercial Growth: Identify and develop new market opportunities, strengthen customer relationships and expand existing revenue streams.
  • Financial Management: Take full responsibility for the overall financial performance of the business, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and profitability.
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee all manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, warehousing, distribution and customer service activities to ensure exceptional performance.
  • Business Transformation: Drive operational improvements, digital transformation initiatives and continuous improvement programmes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Customer and Market Development: Build strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, industry bodies and strategic partners to support long-term growth.
  • Leadership and Culture: Create and maintain a high-performance culture focused on accountability, collaboration, innovation and employee development.
  • Mergers and Acquisitions: Support the identification and evaluation of potential acquisitions, partnerships and investment opportunities.
  • Governance and Compliance: Ensure the business adheres to all regulatory requirements while maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance.
  • Board Engagement: Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to shareholders and Board members.

Essential Experience

  • Executive Leadership: Demonstrable experience as a Managing Director, Divisional Director, General Manager or Operations Director within a manufacturing and distribution environment.
  • Commercial Expertise: Proven experience developing growth strategies and delivering sustained revenue and profit improvement.
  • P&L Accountability: Significant experience managing full profit and loss responsibility within a complex operating environment.
  • Operational Excellence: A strong background in manufacturing operations, supply chain management, procurement, inventory control and distribution.
  • Leadership Capability: A track record of building, leading and developing high-performing teams while creating an engaging and positive culture.
  • Business Transformation: Experience implementing operational improvements, introducing new technologies and leading organisational change programmes.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience working closely with shareholders, private equity investors, boards and senior leadership teams.
  • International Experience: Exposure to international markets, distribution networks and global supply chains would be advantageous.
