Job Title: Senior Sales Manager - Chemical Ingredients

Location: UK (South ideally)

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 + benefits

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Senior Sales Manager to lead business development and account management activities for our portfolio of chemical ingredients supplied to industrial and manufacturing customers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategic customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and driving revenue growth across key manufacturing sectors including industrial, personal care, food, pharmaceuticals, or construction.

This role requires a strong technical understanding of chemical products combined with exceptional consultative sales and relationship management skills.

Roles and Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue and margin targets.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities within manufacturing and industrial markets.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and technical consultation through to negotiation and closing.
  • Build long-term relationships with procurement teams, technical managers, R&D departments, and senior decision-makers.
  • Expand market share within existing accounts while developing new customer pipelines.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive activity.

Account Management

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of key manufacturing accounts.
  • Serve as the primary commercial contact for customers.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Coordinate with internal technical, supply chain, and customer service teams to deliver solutions and resolve issues promptly.

Technical & Product Support

  • Provide technical and commercial guidance on chemical ingredient applications and performance.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to support product trials, formulations, and customer projects.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of product specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.

Commercial Management

  • Negotiate pricing, supply agreements, and commercial contracts.
  • Deliver accurate sales forecasting and pipeline reporting.
  • Monitor profitability and ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Support credit management and payment collection activities where required.

Industry Representation

  • Represent the company at industry events, trade exhibitions, and customer meetings.
  • Maintain awareness of market developments, raw material trends, and regulatory changes impacting the sector.

Essential Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of B2B sales experience within the chemical ingredients, specialty chemicals, or industrial raw materials sector.
  • Proven track record of selling into manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of industrial supply chains and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience managing complex commercial negotiations and key accounts.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
