To mark Red Diamond Executive Headhunters’ tenth year in business, our team is taking on 10 charity pledges to give back. The first of these pledges was that we would climb Mount Snowdon as a team, and we did just that!
On Saturday 18th September we donned our walking gear and team T-shirts and made the trek.
Our team completed the climb in four hours and six minutes, a fantastic achievement.
We experienced every type of weather whilst completing the climb and, unfortunately, there was no sunset at the top, but our heads were definitely in the clouds!
Preparation Is Key
Climbing Snowdon is not an easy feat, but our team was determined to make the climb. To prepare we spent our lunchtimes (weather permitting) completing the Red Diamond Mile, a mile-long walk around our offices and the surrounding area.
While this walk pales in comparison to a mountain, it was really helpful to get walking and bonding with the team as we prepared for this challenge together.
However, in terms of preparing for how freezing we would be at the end – no one could have prepared us for that… We also hadn’t realised that we would need head torches for the descent so we had to walk down very carefully in the dark!
Tales From Snowdon
Our Marketing Executive, Shannon, recounts the highlights of the trek:
“The highlight of this climb for me was how encouraging everyone was to one another. The second half of the mountain was definitely the toughest but all the way down we were all offering each other encouraging words and support, it was amazing to see everyone pull together to complete this challenge as a team!
“We continuously reminded each other of the McDonald’s we were going to get when were done and we already had our orders before we even made it to the top!
“Another funny moment was when most people got to the top of the mountain they were eating energy bars, and healthy snacks and we all cracked open mini bottles of Prosecco!
“Recruiter Bethany also made friends with what could have been a poisonous frog (who knows) on the way down, we think by this point she was ready for a warm shower and bed!”
10 Pledges For 10 Years
We would like to thank Aalberts, who kindly sponsored this section of our 10 charity pledges.
All proceeds raised from our 10 pledges will be going to support some amazing causes within our community as well as The Sick Children’s Trust, which runs Eckersley House in Leeds.
Our founders Emma and Simon Robinson were personally supported by the trust when their son Jasper was desperately ill, providing a ‘home from home’ for the couple, allowing them to be at Jasper’s bedside during this incredibly difficult time.
